INTRODUCTION

The Associate Degree Program in Counselling Psychology is designed for candidates with 12-years education who aspire to become successful counsellors in future. The program is developed to ensure thorough learning and training of students to prepare them for a rewarding career in psychology. In this program, students will get the educational foundation required to pursue a career in counselling psychology. The curriculum includes teaching students the assessment tools and treatment approaches routinely utilized by counselling psychologists. The coursework also includes current trends and emerging issues in the field of counselling psychology. There are various other counselling professions discussed throughout the course.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing the program, a student will be able to:

  • Define counseling psychology.
  • Outline education and training requirements for counseling psychology.
  • Describe four different types of psychological assessment procedures.
  • Communicate through oral and written means by using appropriate technology.
  • Discuss key elements of major treatment strategies.
  • Discuss current trends in counseling psychology.

The students, after obtaining the degree may continue their studies towards BS (4-year) program and the relevant qualified courses will be exempted/transferred, accordingly.



ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

The candidate who is seeking admission in Associate Degree in Counselling Psychology should be Intermediate 12-year schooling as one of the below,

  • Intermediate Pre - Engineering / Science General with passing marks,
  • A-level candidates are required to provide equivalence certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), Islamabad. (http://www.ibcc.edu.pk/)
  • Pakistani nationals abroad and foreigners are also eligible provided they Possess the requisite academic qualifications.
